“Spuren wuchern” moves in the space between the Hambach open-cast mine and what remains of the forest. The work follows the tracks of animal, plant, and technical actors in a landscape that has been torn apart by coal mining. Through visual abstraction, text fragments, and sound, it approaches an ecosystem that has been thrown out of balance.Traces become symbols of movement, memory, and time. They intertwine, overlap, and grow like a patchwork fabric of moments that permeate one another. The video finds its material extension in plaster casts of real traces from the Hambach Forest. These imprints capture the fleetingness of a passing animal, preserve a physical connection to the place, and at the same time carry within them the memory of its violent upheaval and transience. They refer to the lost habitat of wild boars, deer, rabbits, and

countless other creatures. The work was shown at Museum Morsbroich and Videonale.20.
